Magnus Pettersen is an award winning designer based in the UK with extensive experience within furniture and lighting design.

Growing up in Norway, Magnus’ grandfather, Finn, owned a local furniture store. Magnus developed a keen interest in furniture from a young age, messing about in his grandfather’s workshop where Finn would mend and restore furniture for his customers. It was through observing his grandfather’s work that he developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and design.

Magnus pursued his passion through formal education, earning a degree in Product & Furniture Design from Kingston University and an MA in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins. This education, combined with ample hands-on experience across various industries, provided him with invaluable insights and a versatile portfolio of work which became the building blocks and foundations for establishing his own design studio.

Clients include:
Iittala, Heals, Made, 1508 London, Kohler, Areaware and more.

Design Philosophy:

Design is about creating objects which evoke emotions and forge a connection with the user. Magnus believes in creating objects that bring joy to everyday life. The objects that we surround ourselves with have the power to enhance our experiences and elevate our daily routines.

Approaching his work with meticulous attention to detail, Magnus ensures every aspect of each creation is thoughtfully considered and expertly executed. By celebrating traditional craftsmanship and embracing modern technology, Magnus strives to create objects with timeless appeal that inspire. Design should go beyond aesthetics, instilling them with purpose and meaning.

Natural materials are at the heart of Magnus’s designs, championing the authenticity and warmth that these add, aging gracefully and developing a unique patina that tells a story. By incorporating natural materials, the aim is to create a harmonious balance between form and function, where beauty and practicality coexist seamlessly.

Being led by a strong design ethos results in generous amounts of care and thought going into every detail, ensuring that each creation is beautiful, functional, and practical.
